28 Mar Visit at Rolex Baselworld 2016

During the days we spent at Baselworld, we had the chance to see and photograph the new Rolex models. Like every year, I have to admit that this experience was very interesting and unique: the beauty and elegance of the enormous area exhibiting this brand, the kindness and availability of the staff and, obviously, the charm of the new watches.

Let’s start from the most awaited and most talked about model: the new Daytona in 904L steel, with a Cerachrom monobloc bezel in black ceramic, available with either a white or a black dial.
The much-awaited watch has finally arrived and will certainly be a huge hit among both collectors and fashion lovers.
The new ref. 116500LN is a blend of high technology and sleek aesthetics and it pays tribute to the heritage of this legendary chronograph. The black bezel is reminiscent of the 1965 model that was fitted with a black Plexiglas bezel insert. The new Cosmograph Daytona carries the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015, which ensures singular performance on the wrist. Sale price: €11,550.

Besides these two models, Rolex also presented two Daytona watches: one in white gold with a blue dial (Sale price: €34,900) and another in yellow gold with a green dial (Sale price: €32,300).

My favorite model: the new Air-King with ref. 116900 in 904L steel with a 40 mm case. The black dial of this new timepiece features large 3, 6 and 9 hour numerals and a prominent minute track for navigational time readings. The dial also bears the name Air-King in the same lettering that was designed specifically for the model in the 1950s. Sale price: €5,800.

Rolex also introduced the Datejust 41 mm: the new generation of its classic Oyster Perpetual Datejust model, featuring an updated design and coming either in a yellow Rolesor or an Everose Rolesor version with a wide selection of dials. Sale price: €11,850.

Another leading model: the Day-Date 40 mm in Everose gold, ref. 228235, with an olive green dial. Sale price: €35,000. This year Rolex is introducing different versions of the Day-Date (40 and 36 mm) embellished with diamonds. For further info, visit Rolex.com

Rolex also presented the new Yacht-Master (ref. 116621) in Rolesor Everose for the first time, (combination of 904L steel and 18 ct. Everose gold) and with a chocolate dial. Sale price: €13,100. The new Yacht-Master 40 is also offered in 904L steel with a platinum bezel and with either a blue or a grey dial (Sale price: €10,750).

In addition to the new Pearl-Master 39 and the new Cellini collection, Rolex also presented the new Explorer I, with an entirely luminescent display for enhanced legibility. The model’s characteristic 3, 6 and 9 numerals are now filled with a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting blue glow, like the hour markers and hands. Sale price: €6,050.

We have the feeling that this year Rolex has once again hit the nail on the head with a line of models, which will excite great interest.
