29 Mar Our report from Baselworld.
Baselworld is one of the most fascinating events of the year for us, not just because we have the possibility of seeing the new watches in person, but also – and mainly – because we have the chance to meet many of our customers coming from all over the world.
This year, we arrived at Basel on Friday and began our tour in the best possible way: we visited the inside of the Rolex area first and then the inside of the Patek Philippe’s stand, where we could attend the demonstrations of all the new models.
In the afternoon, meeting by meeting, we also saw many of our customers; we then returned to our hotel in Germany, to face a weekend full of interesting visits and looking for new collaborations.
We also met “historical” customers, like Bukowskis, Auctionata and Kaplans auction houses, our official WatchPrint and MisterChrono retailers, our American friends of Bhindi Jewelers, different European Rolex retailers such as Rob Engstrom in Stockholm and Robert Goeres in Luxembourg, as well as vintage specialists like Romain Rea in Paris.
We were also able to see lots of our Instagram friends like Alessandro, on Instagram “LoveWatches”, and many of Mondani Web’s new partners: the team of Everest Bands, Toronto Time, Take Your Luxury, etc.
It was great to visit with our friends Gomez y Molina from Marbella, Macamé from Mexico City and Euro Asia from Israel.
Monday was dedicated to photography services for the new models: Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Armin Strom, Manufacture Royale, and many others. Click here and take a look to my report on the photo shoot at Rolex.
As far as Tudor is concerned, we spent more than one hour shooting all the new models that were illustrated and explained in Italian. It was a very fascinating experience – we could appreciate almost all the new watches very much and it was interesting to learn about their evolution from the vintage line to the contemporary range, which features a new design inspired by the past.
Four new models have enriched the Heritage family, a watch line dedicated to some of the most important references of the history of this brand reinterpreted with a contemporary style. Moreover, the Heritage Black Bay model, introduced in 2012, was updated this year with a mechanical movement developed in-house by Tudor, as well as with a series of modifications to its steel bracelet and the fabric straps. My favorite model is undoubtedly the Heritage Black Bay Bronze, with distinctive features inspired by the past (its domed dial and crystal, its prominent winding crown). Its fabric strap also takes inspiration from the past: the French Navy ordered TUDOR watches without the bracelet and then fitted them with their own straps, which were handmade in some cases. One of them, which was found fitted to a period watch, was made of elastic recovered from a French rescue parachute. The beige and brown woven jacquard strap fitted to the Heritage Black Bay Bronze descends from this ultra-functional relic, recognizable by its central yellow thread.
In keeping with the characteristics of the Heritage line, it is also accompanied by an aged brown leather strap with an angled cut to accentuate the rustic effect.
Our followers were able to see almost all our meetings live on SnapChat and all photos from Baselworld are still online on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/giorgiamondani/.
